This is Me

Hello! I have been in fandom a long time! I remember first joining LJ, probably something like 20 years ago (what) and have always been drawn to the genre shows, scifi, fantasy and comics.

My first love, was the Nanny actually. I remember being super obsessed with it as a child, and had to watch it (back when it was weekly on TV....).

But my one true love, is Buffy.

I'm not sure what other shows were around at this time, but i remember watching season 1 of buffy on TV, and i remember my parents moving a road trip so i was back in time. I had the magazine and everything LOL. This probably cemented my love of both awesome female characters and fun scifi/fantasy shows!

I got really into fandom when I joined LJ. Battlestar Galactica, Stargate, Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls, it was all happening back then! I really got into icon-making, and it was always so much fun to be creative (i was rubbish in the begining lol...am i still rubbish?) and express myself. Confession time, I didn't actually watch SG1 until later on in life, but stil!

I would say it really peaked around 2010? LJ was HYPE, land comms were a thing, sig tags are out and about and there were tons of cool shows and discourse. I was super into Star Trek (2009), Marvel was starting to come out and my smol show, Legend of the Seeker was RIGHT up my alley. It was good times :)

I think things slowed down post 2015 for me, I was working more, doing more and didn't have as much time for fandom. LJ/DW was slowing down too, and streaming of course was taking over. I did have plenty of highlights though; Teen Wolf was a big one, and plenty of superhero shows (not one that really stuck out though. Luckily, Marvel movies continued to be a staple, and my beloved Wynonna Earp came out. The recurring themes are always

- GREAT LADIES
- CAMP STORIES
- FUN AND DRAMA

I have found over the last few years, i don't have really really good fandoms anymore - the interaction is less, and shows aren't as too my taste as they were (I feel like there is a real lack of cozy lately, although i've seen it in shows such as Nancy Drew). I also find things are gritty/drama without necessarily the fun and lightheartedness of Pushing Daises or Buffy. Plus of course things are still harder to find with streaming. I've welcomed the MCU shows and also the Witcher & Wheel of Time!

Plus i still really like making icons...and sig tags!
